The Arts and Cultural Exchange and the APDG will present an information and networking session Saturday 11th November 2023. The session will be an introduction to opportunities in the Design Departments in the screen industry, focusing on the Art, Costume and Make-Up Departments.
The screen industry in NSW is growing rapidly with many professional opportunities in the various Departments in Film and TV production. By far the largest Department on a film set is the Production Design Department.
People with skills in design, construction, sculpting, tailoring, art finishing, millinery, sewing, wig making and hair & make-up, are key contributors to the visual storytelling of a film or TV series. The industry needs new practitioners for these roles and the Heads of Departments want this workforce to be representative of the diversity of the wider Australian community.
APDG, the peak body representing production designers and their associates in the screen and performing arts industries, is partnering with ACE to explore pathways for people from First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse communities and intersectional demographics, to address the crew shortages in the design departments in the screen industry.
Guest Speakers from the APDG will provide an insider’s overview of the many roles in the Production Design Department, the skillsets these department are looking for, and the pathways to professional careers.
This is a FREE 1-day session but places are strictly limited. Please complete the application form and we will confirm your place. Applications close Monday 6 November 2023.
Presented by ACE and APDG. ACE’s Screen Trades initiative is supported by Screen NSW and Screenrights.
