APDG Membership

Become part of Australia’s production design community and help shape the future of our industry. In becoming a member of the APDG, you’ll be joining a community that aims to:

  • Represent designers and their associates in screen, live performance, events and digital production across Australia.
  • Recognise and nurture excellence in design through awards, mentoring and accreditation.
  • Raise the profile of stage and screen design and facilitate a vibrant design community.

Why join the APDG?

The Australian Production Design Guild is built entirely on the collective passion of its community, and when you ask, “What is in it for me?”, the answer begins with the understanding that we are only ever as strong as our members. As a predominantly volunteer-based organisation, we rely on the engagement and contribution of designers like you to keep our industry’s heart beating. Every cent of your membership fees is directly reinvested into the profession, powering the essential pillars that support our craft. These funds are what make the annual APDG Awards possible, providing a national stage to celebrate the extraordinary work of our peers. They sustain the Mentor APDG programme, which fosters the next generation of talent, and allow us to manage the rigorous accreditation process that honours professional mastery with the ‘APDG’ post-nominal.

Beyond the prestige, your contribution maintains the vital infrastructure that keeps our community connected, from the upkeep of our website and member directory to the regular newsletters that keep you informed of industry shifts. Crucially, your membership provides the resources necessary for our advocacy work, giving us the collective leverage to fight for fair remuneration, standardised contracts, and the proper recognition of designers as key creative leads in every production. By joining, you aren’t just gaining access to a network; you are ensuring that Australian designers have a unified, formidable voice that cannot be ignored. We invite you to be part of that strength and to help us continue building a resilient and protected future for every designer in the country.
