The Screen Committee has been highly active over the past few months, focusing on direct industry equity, targeted on-set advocacy, and expanding resources for our screen members. A central priority has been our ongoing consultation with key screen agencies. We have maintained a strong dialogue with Screen Australia and the state screen bodies to push for fairer lead times, realistic prep schedules, and more sustainable working conditions on set.
In alignment with the Guild’s commitment to pay equity, the committee has been instrumental in shaping the specific art department metrics for the upcoming APDG Rate Survey. This data will be vital for our ongoing collaboration with MEAA to establish clearer baseline rates across all tiers of screen production, from indie features to major blockbusters.
On the educational front, our volunteers have successfully updated our screen-specific “How-To” resources, streamlining entry pathways for emerging screen designers and assisting them in navigating their early careers. As we look towards the APDG Awards in August, our committee members are also collaborating with Creative Australia and ASIG to ensure our sector’s unique challenges remain at the forefront of the industry conversation. We welcome any member feedback as we continue to champion your craft.
