The APDG supports a number of film festivals through out the year where designers are recognised and celebrated for their work. Over the last few months, we have supported the Made In the West Film Festival and the Young Australian Film Festival.

Founded in 2012, Made in the West is the biggest annual celebration of Western Sydney talent on the big screen. Hosted by Still Searchin’ Productions, the festival shines a spotlight on Western Sydney’s emerging film scene, connecting independent and student filmmakers with established industry experts for one spectacular event showcasing locally produced films. The APDG supports the Best Production Design award, which this year went to Dane Hallet for Dusty.

The Young Australian Film Festival (YAFF) held their inaugural event in Melbourne in September 2024. YAFF team members are very familiar with the APDG, as were a part of the team that live-streamed the 2023 APDG Awards in Melbourne.

The APDG were proud to sponsor the YAFF Brilliance in Production Design award, that was taken home by Indra Gunadi for the short film Vecchia.
