SA Steering Committee wrap up 2019

2019 has been a hectic year of professional engagements for South Australian members. This included a sizable contingent of SA APDG members employed on the Warner Bros feature film Mortal Kombat.

The February meeting ran alongside the opening of Robyn Archer’s Picaresque production for the Adelaide Festival of Arts.  The first SA APDG event was held in September at the Mill with a special showing of Kirsty Martinsen’s SBS film Limited Surrender.

Approaches have been made to the Performing Arts Collection of SA to establish a precursor and current practitioner type series of exhibition displays to help profile the careers of emerging designers.

A mentorship between Bianka Kennedy as mentee and Victoria Lamb was established as part of the MENTORAPDG program.

The education sub-community in conjunction with Adelaide College of the Arts convened an industry round table to discuss options for company-based apprenticeships to address the void left by the dismantling of VET production-based training in Live Production.

The year ended with a continued involvement in judging and applicants for the APDG Awards with a planned trip to Melbourne for the ceremony in December.
